Call for Artists – Legacy in Service Mural
HAPA and Boy Scouts of America (BSA), Pine Burr Area Council are pleased to announce a Call for Artists to design and execute an exterior mural in Hattiesburg, MS. This call is open to those with professional experience in public art or painting. Submitted designs must be reviewed and endorsed by HAPA and other project partners.
The mural will be painted on an exterior brick wall measuring approximately 21 feet high x 12 feet wide with eight additional window panels measuring 6 feet high x 5 feet wide. The proposed project is on the Pine Burr Area Council headquarters along Hardy Street, with high daily visibility.
Concept proposals should follow the theme “Legacy in Service.” Artists are asked to submit engaging designs honoring the legacy of area service members and the role of BSA in training future community leaders. The design can be simple or complex, but special consideration will be given to artists who intentionally incorporate past or present Hattiesburg-area service members into their design, including police, fire, medical, military, and scouts.
All applications must be electronically submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024. No late or incomplete applications will be considered. Artist selection will be made the first week of June 2024. There is no application fee.
